Grilled Reuben Sandwich
Reuben’s are a favorite at my home with family & friends. Over the years, I’ve used a variety of ingredients and here’s a combination that makes marvelous Reuben sandwiches! In my opinion, the best Reuben’s of all!
~Grilled Reuben Sandwiches~
Makes 4 servings
1/2 pound of Boar’s Head corned beef, sliced paper thin
Dark rye bread, sliced
1/2 pound Wisconsin baby Swiss cheese, sliced
1 can, Frank’s Kraut~Sweet with caraway seeds, drained
Jimmy’s~Original Thousand Island Salad Dressing
Butter, room temperature
Assemble the sandwiches
Very lightly butter a slice of rye bread, and add a slice or two of Wisconsin baby Swiss cheese. Spread thousand island dressing over the cheese, and add a generous layer of sauerkraut. Fold over 3 or 4 slices of corned beef and place on top of kraut. Top with 1 or 2 slices of baby Swiss cheese.
Butter another slice of rye bread and top off your sandwich. Butter the top slice and place butter side down, on a heated pan or grill. Continue grilling until the bread is browned, and cheese is melted. Turn over, and continue grilling until the other side is browned.
Remove sandwich from the grill and cut on the diagonal, and serve. I like to serve Reubens with a small dish of thousand island salad dressing as a sandwich dip. Enjoy!
