Grilled Steak Salad
One steak, serves two people in style!
~Grilled Steak Salad~
1 New York Strip Steak about 1 1/2 pounds
Light olive oil
Salad Mix or Endive Lettuce
Fresh Mozzarella Cheese
2, large tomatoes
Red wine & herb vinaigrette dressing
5-6 fresh basil leaves, julienned
Salt & pepper to taste
2 tablespoons, freshly grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
~Red Wine Herb Vinaigrette~
1 3/4 cup light extra virgin olive oil
1/8 cup water
1/4 cup red wine vinegar
1/4 teaspoon each: salt and pepper
1 teaspoon dried basil
1 tablespoon dried Italian spices
Mix all ingredients in a canning jar. Screw on the lid and give it a good shake, to mix all ingredients.
Remove the steak from its packaging, and place on platter. Using light olive, coat steak on top and generously sprinkle with salt and pepper, repeat on bottom and allow steak to come to room temperature. Once it’s reached room temperature, heat grill.
Grill steak to medium rare or medium.
Remove steak to platter and cover with aluminum and let stand 15 minutes. In the meantime, prepare a platter with a layer of lettuce, sliced tomatoes and sliced mozzarella. Add salt and pepper. Sprinkle basil over lettuce mixture. Slice steak and layer over salad on platter. Drizzle with red wine herb vinaigrette, and serve.
