Recipe~Karen’s Chocolate Zucchini Cake

~Karen’s Chocolate Zucchini Cake~

1/2 cup butter or margarine
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla
1/2 cups sour milk (or add 1 teaspoon lemon juice to 1/2 cup milk)
2 1/2 cups flour
4 tablespoons cocoa (Ghirardelli sweet ground chocolate & cocoa)
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves (optional )
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
2 cups shredded Zucchini

1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup nuts (I used much more nuts & chips and added some to the cake also)
1/2 cup chocolate chips (Ghirardelli milk chocolate chips )

  Beat butter, oil & sugar together.  Add eggs, mix in vanilla & milk.  Add flour, cocoa, baking powder, soda, salt, cloves (optional) & cinnamon. Blend until fluffy & thick. Fold in zucchini & spread in 12 X 8 in. pan.  Sprinkle with topping and bake 40 to 45 min. in 350 degree oven.
