Enjoying the Simple Pleasures of Life, While Living in a Complicated World

Plant of the Week: Daylilies

My favorite flowers in the garden are my daylilies!

Growing up, our home in Oak Park Heights had the typical orange-ditch lily. When we built our home, I discovered these versatile and long-lived plants come in a variety of colors, scents, textures, ruffles and edging!

A teeny tiny lily about 2 1/2 inches across and what a wonderful color!

Great for norther gardeners, they are easy to care for and have very few garden ailments or pests.

There are two kinds of day lilies: naturalizing (typical orange, ditch lily) and clump forming, which need to be divided every four years or so and come in a wide variety of colors! Great for sharing with friends or adding to your gardens!
