Enjoying the Simple Pleasures of Life, While Living in a Complicated World

Inspiring and Majestic, Classical Music:The Flower Duet (‘Sous le dôme épais’) from Lakmé

The Flower Duet

The Flower Duet is my most favorite of all opera duets. There are countless recordings to choose from, and a myriad of duets have been recorded by some of the most famous sopranos and mezzo sopranos of all time.

This particular duet, performed by Tuva Semmingsen (mezzo soprano) and Inger Dam-Jensen (soprano), is by far the most inspiring and perfectly matched, melodious vocals I’ve ever heard.

From the grand opening of the Copenhagen Opera, January 15, 2005. Tuva Semmingsen and Inger Dam-Jensen singing ‘Sous le dôme épais’ from Léo Delibes’ opera Lakmé, give an inspired performance!

  1. I fell in love with the opera many moons ago and nothing has changed. This too is one of my favourites. I have never heard it sung by these ladies and, you’re right, they harmonize perfectly… feeds the soul.

  2. Love this performance- I have listened to many versions and this is by far the most beautiful I am in the USA in Georgia. I would appreciate someone telling me where to purchase this CD/DVD- would love to hear or see this complete opera with these two artists!
